Cal offers students both online and academic courses related to alcohol and other drugs.

As part of the University's alcohol prevention program, all incoming students are required to complete a confidential, online alcohol education course, entitled AlcoholEdu for College. The course uses science-based research to educate students about alcohol and its effects. Whether you drink or not, the course will help you make informed decisions about alcohol and better deal with drinking behavior that may occur around you. Once you've completed the course, you can always re-visit AlcoholEdu to review specific content, use the fact sheets and other resources, and continue to get personalized feedback on your drinking choices.

There are also several academic courses offered that address alcohol and other drug topics, including:

  • Public Health 103 - Drugs, Health and Society (2 units)
  • Public Health 14 - Healthy People: Introduction to Health Promotion (4 units)
  • Public Health 105 - Policy, Planning and Evaluation of Health Promotion in a College Setting (3units)
  • Public Health 114 - Issues in Personal and Community Health Promotion (3 units)

PartySafe@Cal is a program of University Health Services in collaboration with other campus and community organizations.
The mission is to reduce harm associated with drinking in the campus area.
